I chose this photo because I liked the color contrast between the grass, the school and the sky. Tis caught my eye and drew me into the photo.

School 2

I like this photo as it shows a variety of different techniques. It shows a good use of lines on the railing and on the actual stairs, it also shows a variety of different textures.

I chose this photo as I liked the patterns. The school is symmetrical directly down the middle. 

It shows a good use of pattern to create an effect.

This is the original photo I took. it is of my friend. I have not edited this photo at all. I am now going to edited this photo using a variety of different techniques. 

Cropped photo

 This is now the newly edited photo. i have cropped to some of the background so it is focused more on the main image.

On this version of the photo i have divided the photo into 6 different sections. In these sections i have applied different filters to each to add a different color and effect to each of them. 

This is the next edited image. In this image i have use the shape tool to add black lines around the edge of the picture to add a frame effect to the photo. This shows how lines can be used in a photo. 

This is my final edited image. In this image i have applied the distort crosshatch effect. This effect helps to show different textures in my photo.

Journey to the centre of the Earth

This photo shows the lava lake of mount Nyiragongo. The lava lake changes in size but was once the most voluminous lava lake in the world. This photo was taken whilst the lava lake was bubbling and active. The photographer got within 1 meter of the lake.  I think this photo is good because shows what our planet can do. The colour contrast between the magma and the floor of the crater also catches my eye. It makes the magma stand out and adds an effect to the picture.

Earthquake in China

Monks prepare for a mass cremation in China on a mountain top after an earthquake reaching a 6.9 magnitude struck. Over 2,500 were killed and over 12,000 were injured. I think this is a good photo as it shows just how much devastation there is on this planet and how even with todays technology extreme things can still happen. 

Tsunami

The aftermath of an offshore earthquake near Japan. The earthquake measuring 9 on the magnitude scale caused an tsunami to hit japan covering 500 square kilometers of land. The tsunami caused the displacement of over 340,000 people. This photo caught my attention due to the sheer madness of the photo. A boat, swept in land and landed on a two story building. 

Cars

A group of men in mexico, buying, restoring and racing old and new cars. a small community gather to race anywhere they can; City streets, highways, indoor spaces and even car parks. I chose this picture as cars interest me and I like the way they gather, fix their cars and race them. 

Airstrike

Smoke after an israel airstrike attacked targets in Hamas-ruled Gaza. The air-stirke was first aimed at protecting Israel from missile fire from Gaza but as the number of targets increased so to did the civilian casualties. This shot shows the smoke rising and it shows just how dangerous the world we live in is. 

Mosaic

This image shows good use of patterns. the image is symmetrical in many different ways. This pattern would be used fro tiling on a floor or at the bottom of a swimming pool. This mosaic also uses a vary of colors. the colors grab the attention of the viewer. the mosaic has lines around the edges. these create a canvas like picture fro the main pattern in the centre. 

Lines

This shows how lines can be used in photographs. There is a range of different colored lines to create an interesting pattern. On the left side is where the lines are the darkest and they get lighter as they go across. 

Colours

In this photo is a range of different colours. It shows how different range of colors can be used and how they can go with each other. This is a different sort of art called graffiti. 

Textures

This picture shows soft/smooth textures around the outside and then rough/jagged textures in the middle. It shows how you can show different textures in a photo.
